My reason for moving to Uppsala is that I have been admitted to one of the University’s programs. I stumbled upon their Digital Media and Society program while looking for a postgraduate study. After applying, at the beginning of this year, I decided to take a quick trip to Uppsala to find out whether I could see myself living there. I was pleasantly surprised, it’s a small town with a big student population. The University buildings are spread out over the center of the city. Uppsala is very bike-friendly and it’s one of the most used modes of transportation.
The architecture was beautiful and the downtown area had a lot of chain stores and restaurants. I spotted H&M, Vero Moda, Gamestop, Hunkemöller, Lush, and many more. I also noticed that there are many different smoothie bars. The people are very helpful and speak English very well. Public transportation is viable and it can get you almost anywhere.
Now that I know that I would want to live there and that I’m admitted, it’s time to start the moving process. Right now, I have to take care of packing my belongings, ending my tenancy, and terminating other contracts. And I will have to look for housing in Uppsala, I’m a bit worried about this. I have been warned about the severe housing shortage by many different people.
So the upcoming months will be spent preparing for the move.
